That's a bug in Java, which wont be fixed. The Java HTTP as shipped with JDK
behind the URL class does not follow redirects between different HTTP
protocols, so it won't move from http to https. Thats a known issue:

This makes me angry as its against HTTP spec, but Oracle/SUn never implemented
it for some fake security reasons. In fact HTTP->HTTPS is legt, just the otehr
way round is not.
