Steve Rowe commented on LUCENE-2562:
------------------------------------

The smoke tester failed for a non-Maven-related reason:

Sorry, I don't have time right now to work on it, but I will have time this
weekend if nobody beats me to it.

FYI, I expect there will be a Maven-related problem with the smoke tester -
here's what I think will be the problem (from {{smokeTestRelease.py}} -
probably just need to introduce an exception list:

def verifyPOMperBinaryArtifact(artifacts, version):
  print(' verify that each binary artifact has a deployed POM...')
  reBinaryJarWar = re.compile(r'%s\.[jw]ar$' % re.escape(version))
  for project in ('lucene', 'solr'):
    for artifact in [a for a in artifacts[project] if reBinaryJarWar.search(a)]:
      POM = artifact[:-4] + '.pom'
      if POM not in artifacts[project]:
        raise RuntimeError('missing: POM for %s' % artifact)

> I think it would be great if there was a version of Luke that always worked
> with trunk - and it would also be great if it was easier to match Luke jars
> with Lucene versions.
> While I'd like to get GWT Luke into the mix as well, I think the easiest
> starting point is to straight port Luke to another UI toolkit before
> abstracting out DTO objects that both GWT Luke and Pivot Luke could share.
> I've started slowly converting Luke's use of thinlet to Apache Pivot. I
> haven't/don't have a lot of time for this at the moment, but I've plugged
> away here and there over the past work or two. There is still a *lot* to do.
