I totally expect some things to bubble up when we try to release with Gradle, the tarball being one. I don’t think that’s a very big issue, but if you have lots of “not very big” issues they do add up.
That said, yeah, I do think it’s time to start getting a handle on 9.0. Pulling Ant out of the build system is another possibility. Solr as a TLP? Or is that Solr 10? Or does it even have to be as of a major release?
