I disagree. the issues mentioned (the feature parts) are in the
pipeline and patches available. mike started a branch for fixing some
of the Field API issues, Norms are cut over and Similarity support is
close. The remaining part is smoothing APIs, more tests and fixing
documentation. the main issue here is letting the features and the API
stabilize itself which needs time.

thats not the issue here IMO. we should not merge much from 5.0
feature wise and since there are no huge features planned its a good
time I think. this gives us time until 5.x and 4.0 diverge too much.
