Here's a draft for comment....

OpenOffice.org is a community of global volunteers developing,
supporting, promoting and providing a feature-rich, open source,
personal productivity suite available as a free download in over
forty-five (45) languages. It's versions run on most major
computing platforms. It is based on international standards like
XML^(TM) and the OpenDocument^(TM) format created by OASIS^(TM).
We offer enabling technological alternatives. We believe that
Participation, Sharing, Contributing, Community, and Equality are
goals for our times and places. We benefit from volunteers,
sponsors, and our primary contributor Sun Microsystems^(TM). Visit
Us. Join Us. Be Free. http://www.openoffice.org
Sorry Tom, I didn't think there were any takers on [EMAIL PROTECTED], so I
drafted:
"The OpenOffice.org Project is an international community of volunteers,
and sponsors including founding contributor Sun Microsystems, that
operates from the www.openoffice.org web site. OpenOffice.org develops,
supports, and promotes the open-source office productivity suite,
OpenOffice.org. OpenOffice.org fully supports the Open Document Format
for Office Applications (OpenDocument) OASIS Standard and is available
on major computing platforms in over 60 languages."
and posted it to the PR list.
Bernhard commented that he thought that we should separate sponsors and
volunteers:
[Bernhard]
"... community of volunteers operating from the website
http://www.openoffice.org. Sponsored by many people and organizations
lead by Sun Microsystems, donator of the StarOffice code, the community
is responsible for development, support and promotion of the open source
office productivity suite OpenOffice.org. In it's present version 2.0
the office suite fully supports ... "
and mention more about OOo the product, such as on which platforms that
OOo can run and that it is a free download:
[Bernhard]
"... OASIS standard and can be downloaded without any licensing costs
for major computing platforms (including Windows, GNU/Linux, Mac OS X
and Sun Solaris) in over 60 languages. "
Also, Stefan picked up on the old fashioned way I described Sun's
contribution, and Louis responded with:
"The OpenOffice.org Project is an international community of volunteers
and sponsors including founding sponsor and primary contributor, Sun
Microsystems. OpenOffice.org develops, supports, and promotes the
open-source office productivity suite, OpenOffice.org. The project can
be found at http://www.openoffice.org/. OpenOffice.org fully supports
the Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) OASIS
Standard and is available on major computing platforms in over 60
languages. "
I will cross-post this message to the PR list to see what the PR
development team think. But I'm inclined to go with Louis' this time as
we have a couple of media releases that are imminent.
Regards
Jacqueline
