Someone did

Database
Faster operation through large amounts of re-coding
Improved document filters
Improved appearance and icons
Some of the spreadsheet limitations removed

Anyone who has been on these lists any length of time should know the
main improvements.

If a newbie had posted "what is the difference between 1.1.5 and 2.0",
fair enough. Indeed if an experienced person said what we need is a
succinct list of the improvements, fair enough. The answer would be
found in some detail at

http://marketing.openoffice.org/2.0/featureguide.html

If it is thought that there needs to be a concise summary, that is a
different issue and should be written as a call for volunteers to
produce it.
