I think the problem lies in vendors selling illegal pre-installed copies of MS products. MS has succelfully taken legal action against some vendors in Belgium doing the same thing and charging customers with full license prices. I hope MS piracy becomes very, very popular to vendors (oem). that will keep MS busy. Next thing would be to have a good strategy and campaign ready for OOo... darn... back to square one again.

MS has a major advantage on OOo because in trying to 'market' OOo, the main message is: we are not like MS...

Basic rule: There is no need to stress the negative things of a competitor, it only works against you.

What MS does, is like so unimportant, but hey, when their is no way of reacting in a decent way: that is by decent marketing... what options are left?

MS will never put up a 'public' campaign saying that non MS soft should be ignored. They do know that that will have exactly the opposite effect.

An idea on how to get ahead: forget this campaign and help out convincing the marketing PL that their strategy (none whatsoever) will not be succesfull :)

(MS must be laughing their lungs out when they see all this professionalism in OOo marketing... don't forget that is is marketing that got MS to be where it is... not quality software)
