Why would you be offended by that? Regardless of whether it's true or not. It's just a statement about a software product.
Since Abiword is more or less on our side of 'the battle', one would expect different advertising.

As for the myth part... you have to admit that OOo is not exactly speedy.

Sure, after it's loaded you can type and the letters appear right away, but that's the bare minimum I'd expect from any application. OOo's memory footprint is not small. On my laptop I can't use Firefox, Gimp and OOo at the same time. It just makes everything slow to a crawl.
Well, on my more then two years old laptop, I run FireFox, Mozilla, 1.1.5, 2.0.2, Gimp and more at once.
