Its already been done in the UK http://www.logo.com/cat/view/logotron-school-office.html I talked to those involved about a year ago and posted something on the Educ list back in November. No-one seemed very interested so I didn't pursue it. Of course they are charging for it but no real harm in that. I doubt their penetration is that high or I would see it more on my travels.
