Yes I did some video tutorials a couple of year ago. I also start
using wink to create some smaller tutorials.
I also thought about being localized however the problem I faced was
how to create a standard 'source format' so that people can re-write
the text and re-record their voice without re-building the whole
tutorial from scratch.
I did some in English but my voice might have not been the best for
that porpoise so sending it to a person with a more pleasant voice
proved to be a big challenge because of the issue of software platform
and expertise.
Also there is a lack of video capturing applications that are cross
platform and modular. I did most of my work using Wink but it doesn't
have any voice recording component. I also tried xvidcap and
recordmydesktop which has audio but there is no easy way to edit it
after the video is generated.
Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?
1) We need an easy to use macro recorde that catch all screen movement.
So other users can rerun it on their desktop on their language. So UI
recording might be multilangual in this way. I am not sure If we can do
it cross platform.
2) The text during video tutorials should be localizable.
3) WInk seems to be impressive, I will play with it. Also the audio is
not required but it comes well in many situations. I think we might
handle the audio separetly. Can we remux it after all? So we might not
have to produce video and audio same time. First we have to work out
how to record video on every main platform, and how can be reproducable
for multi language UI recordings.
