Hello Leo,
I translated the brochure in Dutch, by pasting the Dutch text into
your original French brochure. Initially I forgot to disconnected the
3 images, which caused blank squares in the brochure for other users.
That is solved now, but still others cannot reproduce the background
on their computers, which I do not know how to solve. Have you any
idea? For the Dutch version, in can circumvene the problem by
exporting my original to PDF, but I notice other translators used my
ODT version to make their own translation and there it goes wrong.
I suppose that when you say « disconnected the 3 images », you mean when
the images are in the ODT file and not read dynamically on the hard
disk. In french, we call that a « lien » and we say that the images are
« liées ».
If I understand well, you were right at first, to not disconnect the
images, because the project works better when they are not disconnected.
As said in the readme.txt :
****** Printing and distribution : PDF
It is highly recommanded to print and distribute the PDF file.
Do not use the ODT (which should not been distributed to the public,
except to the OOo team for translating and editing)
Why not printing and distributing the ODT ?
If you don’t have the right fonts on your computer the pages can appear
differently. Even with the right fonts are installed, some difference
can happen (if you have different version of OOo or the fonts).
So it is better to use and distribute a PDF file, which garantee to keep
the same visual.
******
There are other reasons for not disconnecting the images :
****** Edit and translate
[…] for the future versions, the backgrouds and icons may change. To
update your translated version, you will just have to replace the
picture-files (PNG and SVM) in your folder. No other changes will have
to be done.
******
Hope it helps ;)
Igor.
