Hi,
the current newsletter is more a press review but having an editorial
part would definitely improve the newsletter.
This would imply that we need a team which writes and reviews the
articles. Regarding images and screenshots, they are fine for magazines
but a newsletter should be slim as possible.
The marketing alias does not accept HTML emails, so I am not able to
send my proposal to this alias and I do not have a publicly access web
page available. If somebody has a page available, I will be happy to
send him my proposal.
However we have setup a survey where everyone express their opinion
regarding HTML and simple text.

Here is a pointer to the simple text version of the newsletter.

I have mixed feelings about this idea, for example my browser crashed
when I tried to open the second link. Granted I am on a low resource
EEEPC but usually newsletters are for content and not much shine thats
why we preffer text NL than HTML NL.
However i do remember a proposal by a polish magazine about creating
an OpenOffice.org magazine, the concept fade away but having the
resource to come up wiht an OOo E-zine like the Mozilal E-Zine, Ubuntu
E-Zine (Fullcircle), and even a REd Hat E-zine too
(http://magazine.redhat.com/).
I am curious to know what this e-zine put in and how come they can
come up with so much content. But if there are the team dedicated to
bring this through I am all forward.

Hi all,
I wonder who the target audience for the newsletter is. Is it the community,
the press or even a third group?
Honestly, I find the newsletter boring. The text based form is fine inside
the community, but if the target is to reach new users or the press I think
it needs to be shined up. People are expecting some more marketing like.
Some glitter and gold. The fine stories could be wrapped up in some nicer
paper I think.
Please don't take this as anything other than positive critics. A proposal
for future work. I read the newsletter every months and I think that the
journalistic and editorial work is fine.
Please have a look at the Danish newsletter. This is how it looked about one
year ago: http://da.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=nyhedsbrev&msgNo=53
And then see the latest issue:

Okay, I don't expect that you can understand the content but different
layout should be understandable.
Please discuss this in the future. We could call it 'Newsletter
Renaissance'.
