One more thing, I also added a new lifecycle hook for the profiler. Now
you can update the state on the tick. This is needed for MAD because we will
need to refresh the statistical summary of the lookback window that we are
using to compute the MAD. This should become more clear upon the creation of a
README with a worked example, which I owe y'all.
