Thanks everyone for the great responses...

So it sounds like there are a couple of ways to make this work, on a few different netbook platforms, however... There is an issue with the active zone for the Moblin toolbar which would introduce application side effects with a purely "push toolbar button" interface.. As surmised, my application is "keyboard-less" and I really don't want to use gestures in this UI as I am trying to keep the UI as simple as possible for the user. So, do I assume correctly that this is on the list of "things to resolve" for Intel? As MIDs and IVI are to be targeted by Moblin.

It sounds like I would be better off implementing this demo version in Windows {*gasp*} as I really want to get this demo version done as quickly as possible (think: "days", not "weeks"), and then look for the Moblin touch solution(s) from Intel for the real fully functional product or take the time to implement our own touch solution.

I would ask for a timeline from the Intel folks, but I know better {grin}!! So instead I think I will ask if implementing touch is even on the radar or if this is going to be left to each implementor to resolve??

Thanks.

If you are using nettop, you could try the function key in the bottom(it's just like function key on keyboard in windows system, to activate taskbar), it seemed able to popup the drop down menu at the top. I've tried that on eeetop. Is that what you want?

That's suboptimal because we can't assume the existence of a keyboard. Consider netbooks that can be used in 'tablet mode' where you only have a touchscreen (screen opens and folds over keyboard). We have one of these in house so we have to consider usability in that configuration as well.

cheers,
