As a side note, CPD was integrated into the PMD plugin
yesterday and will be part of the upcoming release.

Anyway, after a quick glance at CPD (please, note I can be very wrong) I noticed that simian has a lot more options to make CP search more fuzzy and (IMHO effective), you can find simian features here: http://www.redhillconsulting.com.au/products/simian/features.html specially the processing options seem much powerfull than those of CPD.

I suspect that since PMD is part of the Maven 2 core plugins we'll be
using CPD instead. It has a BSD style license and does not cost anything.
