To generate all config files, myfaces-builder-plugin is used. Check for
@JSFRenderer and other @JSFxxx annotations in myfaces code to see how it works.
About change the api pom to include servlet 3.0, yes, it is ok to change it. In
theory we should remain compatible with the lowest posible version of a
library, but for JSF 2.2 there is no choice and we should set the dependency to
3.0
