Hello Jonathon, I think we are going a little too far in this issue, discussing the politics in present-day world. Also, I think we should be more [n]ethic on this mailing list to respect all the countries and nations. I guess the political statements do not fall within the scope of this list (looking at the archives, the exception seems the discussion about software patents ;) and all we are trying to resolve is more or less related to a language support that is to be implemented, as well as finding out which law OOo should abide.
Let's hope we find a solution. As Ms. Danese Cooper has been having very big influence on Sun's view of open source (not to mention her other efforts) and has also been in close cooperation with Sun Legal, I have asked her to comment on the issue, not as an employee of some company, but as a member of OSI, as well as Open Source Diva many users respect and love :-) Hope she finds time to post here.
