Thanks, Jaroslav.  There's also option 3, (as said above), which is to
chalk this down to experience, not worry about it, and move on to 12.3
in the near future.  In many ways I prefer that.

If anyone does want to revert, there is also the 2a option to switch
back to 12.2.1 and revert the UC redirect for a while - that is what
we should have tried in the first place probably?

The vote can obviously proceed, but 1a would be to only move the
voted-on source on to dist.a.o, and leave the problematic binary as
convenience on the marketplace only for the short term?  IMO the
source is at least releasable on dist.a.o, whereas I think the binary
fails some checks to be there.

Yes, let's ensure this is properly documented, and also everything is
set up correctly before we vote on the 12.3 VSCode binary.  Any
questions, Eric might be the best person to answer, although hopefully
Laszlo or I can too.
