It's a tough situation -- and ideally Apache NetBeans would be bundled with
one or more of the OpenJDK distributions, though maybe that's not something
for us to decide, but it should be a need that one or more OpenJDK
distributions should feel -- the need to provide free and open source tools
together with free and open source JDK distributions.

In any case, when any of them come knocking, there should not be a problem
for us to be available, i.e., so long as their distribution of Apache
NetBeans is not named Apache NetBeans, i.e., AdoptNetBeans, a distribution
of Apache NetBeans bundled with AdoptOpenJDK, CorrettoNetBeans, a
distribution of Apache NetBeans bundled with Amazon Corretto. Etc. Each
would come with a couple of plugins providing features specific to the JDK
that it is bundled with, etc.

I think that's a logical consequence, if we continue to get our act
together, with thanks to the many individual contributors (Laszlo. Chris,
Neil, Antonio, Emilian, Junichi, Matthias, Sven, Thilina, Eric -- to name
the tip of the iceberg/layered cake).
