This is all good guys, but please keep such discussions focused in user ML
where it naturally takes place

Thanks

Yes, you are right.

Except for the iPad... I mean, our software is for factory... we sale Industrial PC and rugged tablet (under Android or Linux) so iPad is too fragile for industry. And we test it with standard android tablet, and industrial tactile PC (our webdesigner agency test it on iPad). The UI is designed for 10" 1024x768 screen.
This is not a native app but it was designed in OFBiz with the .ftl file,
specific css, javascript, images.

Julian,

This is what I understood from your posting(s) and browsing a bit through
your git files:

    1. The component is developed for a 12.x setup, but might
    work in (though not tested and approved for) trunk and 13.x (when
    available);
    2. The component can be deployed in the hot-deploy directory and after
    build and load data (seed, demo) it can be road tested;
    3. The solution is intended to server (at least) two purposes:
       - enable others than shop floor worker (let's call them management
       for now) to get somewhat real-time info on the status of production runs,
       but production runs must at least have status PRINTED;
       - enable shop floor workers to start, pause, resume and conclude
       (finish) tasks by means of a tablet (e.g. iPAD, Android);
    4. it is not a native tablet app for either the Apple or the Android
    platform

If this is not correct, please enlighten us.

Pierre Smits

You can find a full version of OFBiz to test it here after :
http://www.nomaka.fr/sites/default/files/OFBiz-12.04-Followup.tar.gz

This one is a 12.04 version ready to use with a set of data in the derby
database.
If you prefer to use another database, just initialise database with "ant
load-extseed" command, it'll load our demo data.

We use hot-deploy folder for our component and you'll find it in
application=>followup.

The purpose is to follow work in progress in the factory from the office.
So you must have fabrication order printed to see it in task list in the
factory.

To use it in the factory, you must have tactile tablet in front of
workstation (or computer). When the operator start a task, he select
"start" on this task. Before and after break, he select "break" or
"resume". When the task is terminated, he select "terminate".

We know that this is not enough for full production follow up but our
effort was focused on factory user interface. This one designed specially
to be efficient and user friendly.
More functionality will be implemented later this year.

Unfortunately, we don't have any success stories with it because it's just
launched :)

Hope I answered well,

Julien

Hi Julien,

Thank you for sharing this.

Would you be so kind as to elaborate more on the business
scenario/business
cases the component is intended to address and such, on how and where to
implement it (what needs to be done to get it running to evaluate it), and
if possible where this component (currently) supersedes already available
functionality in the Manufacturing component in the base application
suite?

This all will help other community members to get a deeper understanding
of
your solution, what the omissions are in your current version and more.

Regards,

Pierre Smits
