Hi All,
To summarize the discussion and make a few suggestions:
From now until January 14, 2007, members will have the opportunity to add
comments to the wish list. This is an opportunity to add details and
generally make your case for various features. Add your details directly to
the wish list (you must be logged in to add comments) unless there is
something you want to discuss with the rest of the OOPM community.
After January 14th we'll combine these into a requirements document,
grouping similar features, etc. My proposal is that this be complete by Feb
14th. I volunteer to do this (although if someone else would like the job
I'd be happy to have them take it on. Please let me know if someone else is
interested). Is there some sort of open source tool for managing
requirements? If not, I guess it will be in OO Writer.
When the requirements document is complete, we'll discuss the features which
should be included in the roadmap. My proposal is that we try to establish a
roadmap for the first release by March 14th.
Once the roadmap is established for the first release, we'll write some
formal requirements. My proposal is that we try to write the requirements
for the first release by April 14th.
When the requirements are finished (about April 14th) we will see if we have
enough developers to get the project off the ground. If not, I suggest we
advertise for some volunteers. I suspect I could find a few within my
company if I went looking. My guess is that it will be more difficult for us
to keep this project moving along smoothly until April 14th than it will be
to find some interested developers. But then again, I've been wrong before.
Does this sound like an acceptable summary and a workable plan to get us to
the requirements phase?
Regards,
Shawn
