The actual ASF policy is that you have to have a CLA (contributor agreement) on file to get write permissions to a confluence wiki used as a website, which anyone who wants to contribute can do. Of course projects are welcome to have stricter rules as it seems the Incubator does with the whole "must be a committer" thing, but having a CLA on file is the minimum requirement.

The reason this came up is that on Friday a couple of spaces got "hacked", as in someone created an account and replaced the wiki content of a project's main page with "you've been hacked". I reviewed all 90+ of our (our=ASF) spaces, including the two OpenEJB spaces, and updated the perms where needed to be up to snuff policy wise.

Anyway, here's the link for how to file a CLA for anyone who needs it: http://www.apache.org/licenses/index.html#clas

Once the CLA is recorded in the books I or any other confluence admin can add you to the asf-cla confluence group, just need your confluence id.

Also the other wiki at http://wiki.apache.org/general/ doesn't follow
this policy AFAICT. Why does confluence have to?

Based on previous discussion [1], the Tuscany PPMC has voted to grant
some some community members, with proper CLA on file, to have write
access to the Confluence wiki website. Is this NOT acceptable anymore

Just a reminder to all PMC Members and podlings: no one is to have write
