Hello Jörg!
Inside the issue tracking system there are more and more users
which searching for help how to use AOO.
Do you have some examples? I would like to take a look at what's
going on.
I have closed some.
But for an example
https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=127303
is also a candidate. IMO AOO has the ability to solve his problem but in
other ways. A style formats but count nothing.
It would be a good task to change the text at
https://bz.apache.org/ooo/createaccount.cgi
There is no explanation, what issuezilla is!
There is no guide for understanding what users can do and what
they should not do!
There is no hint for the very first step to find user forums for
questions and discussions!
I'm not sure what to do. Probably a short note is not wrong, but a
longer explanations belong more to the local pages, such as:
http://www.openoffice.org/de/dev/pre_submission_de.html
I am also not sure whether longer explanations will bring much, for
e.g. the German community (de-aoo) has tried for years to explain how
to use our mailing lists correctly, unfortunately only with little
success.
The problem is that nobody knows how the people comes to issuezilla.
Maybe a simple search at a search engine shows at first issuezilla. So
you can provide informations where you want – the user will not get it.
So the simpliest way IMO is to ask the potential new subscriber
(a draft!)
– If you need help for using AOO?
Please got to https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/
or look for a forum in your language at https://forum.openoffice.org/.
– You have found a technical issue inside AOO?
Then please check these steps:
1. Have you a step-by-step description and a sample document to show the
issue?
2. Have you discussed the issue at a user forum?
3. Can anybody at a userforum reproduce the problem?
[YES for all] – [NO]
Only if one clicks on [YES] he will be asked for the email address.
Regards, Mathias
