Hi Roderick,
you can install the javamail correctly, but you can't use it. Even if
you copy the files from the staroffice 8 Beta (email.jar and *.xcu IIRC)
to your OpenOffice, it will not work as long as SUN blocks.
Please take a look at the issues 44253 and 11244,
