OK, I appreciate that you start defining a use case.

However, what's the difference with clicking on a similar icon on your desktop 
environment?

I'm sorry, I don't know much about Microsoft world. Could you explicit the 
benefits of such launchers?

Some years ago, there was a "Star Office desktop". It also had an email 
client. Thanks to the developpers of that time, such ideas of world 
domination have been deprecated in favour of much lighter and smarter 
integration. Now OpenOffice.org is a much better citizen of the various 
Operating Systems that host it, and does not try to behave as the operating 
system itself and launch applications.

So if there is a real point in having a launcher, why not ? But it would be 
good to know that point first.

I still did not fully get the path you would like to follow. An add-on ? 
Bundling software ? Or do you stick with the vision of integration into the 
core of OOo ?
