If you build OOo you'll find a utility guistdio.com in your solver's
wntmsci*/bin directory. Copy that to the path containing your OOo
installation's soffice.exe executable and name it soffice.com, then
invoke soffice.com instead of soffice.exe.

Because Windows simply suppresses any stdio for GUI programs. For
reasoning ask MS.
