VMware Server is also being provided free of charge, and it does allow the creation of guests. This alleviates the need to take the long route to set one up in Player. I do agree that it's mostly easier and better to set up in a virtual linux environment than straight on Windows, but only if you have a bit of experience with GNU/Linux based systems.
