Three weeks ago I submitted a patch which actually displayed a MessageDialog with an error icon and an verbose error message which explicitly says "your data has NOT been saved on the server". http://josm.openstreetmap.de/ticket/2437
It didn't improve conflict resolution yet, but it clearly warned users of potential problems. Bad luck that it didn't make it in the source tree. Perhaps it would have warned you. Not sure, whether this is a bug in JOSM. Currently it's classified as enhancement. -- Karl -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Im Auftrag von Ed Loach Gesendet: Montag, 11. Hopefully only those from the first time I did it... The village of Pattingham was looking so beautiful this morning after I repeated the edits I lost. I think this boils down to a bug in JOSM. If it had warned me there were unsaved changes when I tried to exit I wouldn't have exited and my changes would have been stored somewhere. People on IRC last night suggested I could save to disk and edit out the deleted way that was being complained about, until I mentioned I'd already exited.
