Also, in a very recent development, OSMF seem to be considering handing out
money/support via what they call a "project incubator" (search for the term
on https://docs.google.com/View?id=d38xqz5_6fj2bcdcm); that would then be
the remit of the "Strategic Working Group" who hold regular IRC meetings, so
if you want to get involved there that's also an option.

in addition to this we are as well considering to promote views on how
to scale horizontally.

That's a very buzzwordy topic. I can see you beeing flooded by "NoSQL" acolytes ;)

Personally I'm pretty sure that the current, non-horizontally-scaling setup will last well into 2012 at least, but I'm just a random tech guy and I'm sure if the collected expertise of the OSM TWG says we need to look into that right now then they will have a point.

I wanted to compose a message about various topics in your meeting notes; one thing on my list was that in the notes you have put something about maybe soliciting ideas for "bounties" etc. for stuff that improved the "horizontal scalability". Please, in going further, consider that offering incentives for one kind of development and not for another expresses a strong priority. Personally, I think that e.g. the development of tools to aid the license change process should rank much higher, and there are other needs that are perceived as pressing, too.

Also, be reminded that bounties were used in the past in this project and, to my knowledge, never had any noticeable effect.
