What exactly are you doing? What JDK are you using?
I've got the following results on Linux for the attached pdf:
1.7.0_75: 4,8s vs. 12,9s (patched)
1.8.0_101: 8,8s vs. 5,8s (patched)
I can't see any unusual here, see my comment below
