Agree, abstract class would be better if we start over again.
However, the issue here is different. PIG-3419 change the meaning of JobStats
we used to communicate the Pig execution status in
PigProgressNotificationListener API and PigStats API. It is down-scoped and
methods such as getNumberMaps etc are removed. It will affect the downstream
projects no matter PigProgressNotificationListener is an interface or a class.
This Jira is to bring the old JobStats back (also PigStatsUtil, but that is
less involved compare to JobStats).
