Hi Martin, first of all don't capture threads. This will mess up the archives and won't help when you da search for a special topic in the archives. Or do you always search for Pocket PC when you want to know something about Mac OS X?

If you don't OS X or better the compiler only looks in /usr and perhaps /usr/bin for an installed version of pkg-config and if it doesn't find one it gives you this error message. What you should do is a) search for this freetype2.pc file using the find command in your terminal. "man find" wil help you and a first hint is "find . -name "freetyp2.pc" where the dot stands for the current directory you are in so if you are in / this find command will start searching for freetype2.pc in root directory. b) If you don't have a freetype2 the easiest way to get on is by installing *both* X11 and X11SDK. X11 SDK comes with XCode 1.0 to 1.5. XCode 1.5 is recommanded for building OOo 680. Fetch the November 2004 update for gcc 3.3 too. This prevents a lot of errors during build process cause previous XCode 1.5 gcc had bugs. If you have X11 SDK and X11 installed you should find a freetype2 in either /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.3.0.sdk/usr/X11R6/include/ or /usr/X11R6/include. Another way to get a freetype2 is to use Darwinports or fink (for beginners I would say that fink is the easiest) or download their sources and depencies and compile them yourself. It's possible that OOo brings along it's own freetype2 but this freetyp2 breaks on Mac OS X so we use our own ones. I think that all of us have X11 and X11 installed and additionally fink (fink.sourceforge.net) or darwinports (http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/) installed. So there are at least two ways to get a freetype2. If you have a freetype2 found or installed you should set the PKG_Config_PATH in bash with export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=<Path to libfreetype"> or if this doesn't help you have to use --with-freetype2=<path to freetype2". > 2) > If there is a new milestone, do I have to download the whole > source tree again? Yes there is a new milestone 73 out but still we are verifying Eric B's build instructions for m71s1. > 3) > What exactly is m71sxxx what you are speaking about here? The first milestone that build for Mac OS X without real big problems. We still need a lot of patches but the most annoying bugs are solved excpet python but for this there's a patch on the way and I am currently trying to build m71s1 with this patch. My problem is my lack of time. > 3) > How long will the build process approximately take? I have an iBook G4 1GHz. Between 8 and 12 hours or more. Depends on what you are doing while building. If you do nothing building will be faster. If you continue working while building building will be slower. And be sure to have at least 512MB of RAM if you consider to work while building. You should also take a look into the archives of the porting dev mailinglist. Eric B, me (Eric H), Florian Heckl, Pavel and other did a lot of work over the last week or last two weeks. You really should do this in order to be up to date and to be able to follow us.
