First: For OS X 10.3.x we won't need dlcombat at all. This is only
for 10.2.x Users.

Second: If you have dlcompat via fink you only have to link to it.
You needn't copy it. A simple ln -s /sw/lib/libdl.x.dylib
/usr/local/lib/libdl.x.dylib was all it took last time I used
Jaguar. Again. This isn't necessary for Mac OS X 10.3 users.

Third: Afaik libfreetype ist part of XDarwin and X11. If you
install them you get libfreetype. Currently users may get confused
and install freetype via fink or Darwinports or so and that's not
necessary.

Fourth: Don't confuse the reader. XDarwin is the name of both
Xfree86 or X.org X Server for Mac OS X and sometimes Apple's X11 is
also named XDarwin. Here it may be better to speak of Apple's X11,
Xfree86 XDarwin and X.org XDarwin.

Fith: In addition XDarwin is needed for Jaguar Users since Apple's
X11 is 10.3. only. There is a beta3 of X11 that runs with OS X
10.2.8 but even though it is officially downloadable from an apple
server it is not recommended to use with OOo. It causes some
problem regarding window position etc that makes it nearly
impossible to use. It also has problems with non-english languages
and here especially with special chars like the german Umlaute.

Sixth: You can download Apple's X11 here
<http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/x11/download/>

That are the first six little errors that confused me after a first
overview.

Eric Hoch
