Hi Eric,
(...)
Currently I can test on a IBM eServer iSeries 810 running with debian sarge.
I didn't even know it will work on such machines ! :-)
:-)
Installation of m89 went off without a hitch and my first impression was not bad. :-)
With m89 you had to use some "force" options. I perhaps have found a workaround I'll test soon, to change architecture name. And for Mandrake/Red Hat PPC users, Jim Watson gave me probably a good tip for building rpm's too.
Today we copied the installation to a IBM OpenPower 720 / Redhat Enterprise Server 4 and it works fine, too!
My question is: What do you think is most important to test? Running the testtool or some special manual tests?
Hmm, not sure the testtool (nor spadmin) works, for some reasons. The most important is that the build is made *without Java* (no wizards, no help)
I have to verify a lot of things in the code before 1.4.2 from IBM works, and I cannot find any help to do this, but I begin to understand what is exactly to do.
The second reason is that, after some tries, testools crashes, and I haven't found yet why.
Testtool nor spadmin do not work at all, I only get a segmentation fault. Is a strace output interesting for you?
Of course, if you want to help me, an as_complete_as_possible list of most important bugs has always to be done.
And you're welcome if you coul'd help me :)
Ok, I try my best, but it could take a little while, because its better for me to test in the evenings (I have to show consideration for our customers, who try to do their daily-work on the machine :-) ).
At first, I try to start with the tcm test cases. We already asked to get the build number in the tcm, so that I can easily track the tests.
For your information, I just co m92 code, but I'm waiting to see m92 ready before to start the build. Not sure everything will be as fine as for m89, but I'll try. As usual in both fr/de/en-US. At least, I'll try to build...
Last but not least : thank you very much for your feedback :-)
No problem!
Regards,
Jacqueline Rahemipour
