Hi all,
Although this conversation is rapidly becoming quite fruitless, here's
my 2c for the soup.

While I've not actively participated to the development of NO/J, I've
read their forums and websites. OO X11 is made very well visible by
the NO/J people. Both as a historical reference, as a current
relationship and in the daily discussions with NO/J users that occur
in NO/J discussion forums.
For many of the NO/J users, I think they are well aware that NO/J uses
OO X11 as a base and that NO/J concentrates on UI and making the
application integrated with Mac OSX system.
There is no malicious hiding of OO X11 or anything like that.

Maybe the "press release" was not well worded enough. I don't know. I
was happy with it, but maybe it was not enough for you. But if you
look through the NO/J websites & forums etc., you can very well see
that OO X11 is very well placed there.
...
I understand, Eric, that you are unhappy that NO/J people do not send
immediately the fixes/patches to OO cws/cvs, when they fix NO/J. This
is unfortunate, but you really can't command people to do what you
want. What you can do, is politely and friendly ask how this could be
made better, but it is not fair to get angry even if things do not
work out. This is volunteer work, afterall.
The NO/J people are doing a huge work and they have different
priorities than you. And that's just fine.
I can very well understand that NO/J people do not want to spent time
on the OO cws/bugzilla process, which can be very slow and tedious.
Nowadays it's much better with actively helping people like Pavel
Janik, but it's still not quick.
...
How about having a contact person within OOo.org that would be willing
to take in fixes/patches from NO/J people and then going through the
trouble of CWSing it etc...? Or that Patrick/Ed etc. would just mail
their patches to the dev@ list? Maybe per NO/J patch/release or
something... And not the GUI stuff, but the OO X11 -related fixes...
Anyways, I'm just happy that we have that NO/J fixes cws that Patrick
made. I just hope OO X11 people will be friendly enough to integrate
that cws to OO. Yes it's more work for X11 people, but it benefits
everybody.
All the best,
Mox
