I finished a build of 1.9m112 on Panther a couple of days ago.
A few notes :
1) I checked out the sources for 1.9m112 from anon CVS using that tag. A
couple of Maho's patches when applied did cause patch hunks to be rejected
- it didn't seem to be a problem though.
2) Now that it appears that the GNU version of 'cp' is required
(./configure fails if you don't specify --with-gnu-cp), I did download,
build, and install the GNU CoreUtils v5.2.1 without too much trouble ('make
check' failed), without using DarwinPorts or Fink. I guess Eric H's build
instructions will need to be updated.
3) It mostly built without problem, except in instsetoo_native, got an
error creating the ".mpkg", because of a permissions problem.
Fixed that by setting the execute bit on the script :
./solenv/bin/create_OSX_mpkg_and_dmg
4) Got past that point, but the build then failed with stuff related to
URE. It didn't matter - I was able to install and test the build.
What is URE? I see there something that happens as the very first thing in
the build - "Fetching dependencies for module ure" - it tries solver (and
obviously fails on a new clean build), then tries CVS (and obviously fails
if you are not connected to the Internet).
