Install, if you haven't already done so, X11 from Apple or XDarwin via fink, Darwinports etc. ppp. There are enough possibilities to get an X11 for Mac OS X. Attention: Neither Panther nor Tiger install X11 per default. You have to search for a package named X11User.pkg on the installation CD/DVD set. Maybe it is not the easiest and mac like way but using the terminal and the "find" command does the job. Second Download OOo from the porting.openoffice.org/mac Webppage for 1.1.2 that works fine with 10.2.x up to 10.4.x or you ask here for "unofficial" 1.1.4 builds that only run using Panther. No Tiger builds currently and there is a lot of work to do in order to get 1.1.5 working using Tiger. Once Downloaded simply double click the diskimage to activate it and do a second double clickt to start installation. Follow the given steps the installer provides. Done. The Milestonebuilds for 2.0 work using Panter (10.3.x) and Tiger (10.4.x) but Tiger X11 has a bug that provides it from using the "Alt" key the right way. For en-US this doesn't really matter, for european languages like French and German it does matter. Jaguar (10.2.x) currently isn't supported for 2.0. Launch OOo using StartOpenOffice.org. Answer the question where your X11 can be found and there you go. Next time you use Start OpenOffice.org it will launch your X11 and your OOo. We are working on an easy drag'n'drop solution like gimp.app but there is still a way to go from currenty prototype to end user app. > Another question concerns the use of Base on the Mac. Unless someone does it I cannot say more on this topic here. Maybe someone else? HTH and feel free to ask.
