I am engaged as the Director of IT at a medium sized firm located in Southern Ontario, Canada. I have used StarOffice and later OpenOffice since sometime in 1999, possibly 1998. Starting last year we began replacing MS Office 2K with OOo v 1.4 and, with very few exceptions, have been pleased with the results. I am using OOo to produce the design documents and I have decided to use the open beta version (for some unfathomable reason) for my own work. I am informed on the users list that this is the place to bring concerns, wishes, and have possibly anomalous behaviours explained. Though I no longer have the luxury of the time necessary for coding anything beyond the current project I am heading, I believe that there might be some value in contributing my observations relating to intensive use of the software. If this the case then can some kind soul confirm it and then I may unburden myself of a few items in the hopes that they might be either explained to me or scheduled to be fixed in a future release.
