Hello Andre, I reviewed all of the shakedown tests to see if we can perform a reduce set of tests for localized releases. For each test I estimated ( very roughly) amount of work involved in testing. We can use this as a guide to assess if their is a benefit to removing the test for release of a local build.
Refer to http://qa.openoffice.org/testcase/index.html for actual tests. Assumptions: each test is performed on Solaris, Linux, and Wins OS platforms. The tests are listed below: Test Actions Duration (in hours) Installation Install OO on 3 OS's. 30 min/install x 3 = 1.5 File type open Open 39 file types 3 min/file x 3 = 6 File type create Create 37 files 2 min/file + 10 min/mail (2) x 3 = 4.5 File insert 19 actions 10 min/action x 3 = 9.6 Text edit 5 actions 10 min/action x 3 = 2.5 View actions 5 actions 10 min/action x 3 = 2.5 Format actions 8 actions 10 min/action x 3 = 4 Tools/Options 10 actions 10 min/action x 3 = 5 Print 1 action 5 min/action x 3 = .3 Help 8 actions 5 min/action x 3 = 2 There are 10 seperate types of tests. Reordering the list by top 5 gives us: File insert: 9.6 hours File type open: 6 hours Tools/options: 5 hours File type create: 4.5 hours Format actions: 4 hours Based on above, my recommendation is to remove file insert, and file type open from required tests on localized build. BTW - there are some typo's on format action tests.
