Hi Shaun and everyone here :)

The release tests took "746 min 50 sec" or about 12.5 hours.

Definitely a good overnight task.

This is the first time that I have ever managed to get the tests to run all the way through without stopping.

Congratulations! :)

You should start testtool from the xterm and open the .res files there. You will need to change the type of file that you are wanting to open at the bottom of the testtool open dialog. Testtool has a nice way of showing the results including highlighting the warnings orange and errors red.

OK, I have opened my first .res file in testtool. Please see:

This is one of the types of screens I saw flashing past when I ran testtool the other night. I don't know why none of the accented characters display. AFAI can see, it says:

Beginning program: (date, time)
Reading file(s)
File(s) could not be read
        (filenames)
Warning: generating 1 error
        Not generating any warnings
Not generating any warnings while initializing (? unsure of last word)

And this is repeated in the second half of the data.

I still need to run another tool to quickly analyse the results. Will need to dig out the issue that the script is attached to.

Will get these the results zipped and archived in a similar place.

Please see my questions about these results in the preceding post.

Sorry Shaun, I got mixed up: it was you who sent me the logs link and the screenshot. Thankyou for doing that. :)

When I ran testtool, entering the command in the xterm, I didn't see any OpenOffice.org windows that I can remember. The xterm kept saying it was running tests, and what looked like the VCL window would flash up, scroll a lot of output past my eye and disappear again before I could read any of it. Those two things kept happening until the xterm said FINISHED, after only 3 min. 58 sec..

You've missed something then.

Following Joerg's recommendation in his post, I tried running just one test from testtool. Please see the screenshot:

It didn't seem to go any further than that. Is that useful output? I don't understand it.

What does this difference mean?

I couldn't tell you as I have _never_ looked at the *.res files in a plain text editor before.

Sorry: I didn't know we were supposed to view them in testtool. It's a fairly normal reflex, to open any unknown information file in your test editor. ;)

So, in conclusion:

I have followed both Maho's and Uwe's instructions.
I have replaced the database file with the one I was sent.
My tests run, but they don't seem to have the same results as Shaun's. Also, the Vietnamese in them does not display properly.

Where to from here? :)
