This is this deadline which makes the testing difficult for us if it is
less than one week. In this case it was 4 days, and if the release is
available only during the week-end make it frustrating for our testers
because they are testing on their spare time, and the week ends are the
most productive period for us.
My concern is that the community is really willing to help here and is
able to help too so we should also take its availability into account.
So please could it be possible that we have a plain week to do this
testing ?
First I would like to understand why you speak of only four days.
Rafaella announced that TCM testing could be started on January 25th.
The CWS localization was nominated on February 1st which is 7 days
later. Or do you only count the days since the CWS was available with
milestone OOF680 m6 until the last CWS integration?
My - perhaps naive - picture is, that with the current process, the week
for TCM testing, starting with the L10N CWS builds being available,
should be used to find _showstopper_ L10N bugs in the build. Should such
bugs be found they should be fixed on the L10N CWS, localisation19 in
the current case. All other - i.e. non-showstopper - issues should be
fixed with the L10N CWS for the next release. As such issues will be
fixed for the next release, the time to find such errors can be extended
past the normal TCM testing timeline. For full L10N testing this
timeline is IMHO way too short, but for finding showstopper issues it is
hopefully sufficient.
Of course this current state is not ideal. It does not offer translators
a simple way to early see the outcome of their work in the product. As
Pavel already mentioned, there are plans to make more regular L10N
merges and builds available. That way a translator would only have to
verify the latest translation changes in the final L10N CWS for a
release. Would that be better?

Jörg
