And to be sure on things it might of course also be the case
that you didn´t introduce a problem at all and it´s the testcase
being wrong eg. the tinderbox is not setup correctly,
hmm .. once configured, I always believed a tinderbox was
robust .. maybe I misunderstood
I was thinking about things like agreed changes to system
requirements like minimal possible version of C library or JDK
needed etc. and a tinderbox not being upgraded to changed baseline
requirements yet here. Wasn´t it just recently that MAC Porting
team for example announced that JDK1.5 is now required for MAC Port.
On Java 1.5, you can currently build with Java 1.4.2. Due to an
oversight, we have been using Java 1.5 for the official Mac builds.
This means that users must have Java 1.5 installed on their machines.
Since this has been found so late, we have decided to continue with
using Java 1.5 for this release. This is just in case building with
Java 1.4.2 would cause a problem. For all milestones after the
current release, we will revert to using Java 1.4.2 for compiling.
This will mean users will not have to have Java 1.5 installed.
I think an extra configure option for choosing which version of Java
to build would be good. All Mac currently come with Java 1.3.1 and
Java 1.4.2, with Java 1.5 as an optional software update.
There are 2 options. We have bots of all the same configuration that
is the same as the official builds. Or we can have lots of different
configuration bots.
[..]
Hopefully I have all the versions round the right way.
Shaun
