Hi,

When you are running a test on your system, are the results reproducible
when you run it more than once?
In general - yes.
Perfect. This is, why Helge and I said, that the tests show reproducible
results.
There are some errors that only pop up ervey now and then - these are mostly
timing or focus problems. This kind of problems has (from my experience) been
reduced dramtically in the recent months.
As I know focus problems occurs often on UNIX machines. This isn't easy
to fix (in the Office), because the window managers handle the requests
from the office differently and the VCLTestTool make stress-testing and
call too fast dialogs. Sometimes this can be work-arounded by Sleeps in
the test scripts.
But the problem still is, that *my* test results can only ber reproduced by
*me* in *my* test environment. This has at least two very bad effects:
- fixing this problems is almost impossible, as nobody else can verifiy the
problem (or the fix)
- spreading the work across volunteer community is hardly possible, as the
"history" of test results is bound to one tester. So - no matter if you have 1
or 1000 testers available - you always need to refere to the one who run the initial test
series. (Or whoever likes to to automated test first needs to do her own test run to get
a reference)
In my world it isn't a problem, because the solution can be the TestBots
for general use. I have often wrote about this and can repeat it again
and again. Please wait some more months. I hope the Sun team can present
it soon. Currently I do not have a complete status, because after my
vacation other people which are involved in such project are on vacation
now.
When I know more about the TestBot project, I will write it hear.
