(Of course, I am just criticizing the fact of not sharing the issue
description with the community; I totally respect the issue poster and
his work, and I believe this non-description is enough for him, but I
feel it would be useful to share more with the community)
I have no doubt that in this case Joachim Linger
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/DomainDeveloper) -and
others in other issues- will share info (via the issue) if you ask it.
Thanks Cor for your suggestion, but apparently I failed to understand
it. When you wrote this, you knew from my e-mail that I had already
posted a specific request, one week before, on the issue page at
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=103989 ; so I assumed I
should just wait. But today is the 20th day since the issue was posted
and no information has been provided yet. Were you suggesting that I did
something else that I misunderstood?
No. It just does not work as it should.
Is it really annoying for you?
Yes - it is annoying. If such an issue was filed by anybody else (not
Sun employe or core developer) it would have been closed as invalid
asap. This might give the impression, that some community members are
"more equal" than others.
that is completely nonsense, the subject alone is often important
enough. It might happen from time to time (i don't know) but not if the
person who handle the issue takes it serious. In this concrete case i
would agree that a little bit more info would have been useful.
Sometimes such an issue is used as a reminder to not forget it and to
fill it later with more info.
Joachim in person don't ignore things and he just noticed today the
comments in the issue (i am sitting in the same office).
Maybe you should think about your own work on this topic. Nobody even
knows what you are doing, it is completely hidden for us. Please don't
complain about developers who at least try to make their work public.
Instead of complaining raise your concerns on the correct list
([email protected]). Tell us what you are doing and what are your
specific requirements are. Search the dialog with the developers and
don't work behind close doors. Work with us together...
(I have a very deep rooted habit to not take offence on anything that
might be interpreted (by me) as being treated 2nd class. Call it a
mental disorder... I call it an advantage.)
I fully agree with this answer by Andre'. And, on a less "philosophical"
point of view, a significant part on the Italian N-L group budget is
being put in a project about digital signatures and OOo, so it wouldn't
be bad to know whether the changes (not) described in the issue affect
or jeopardize our work. You have seen all links in my original e-mail.
as i mentioned before if you don't let others know about it on the
correct channels you will get ignored because simply nobody knows about it.
Joachim Linger should just reply on your request.
i am sure he will
Juergen
(who sometimes feel very demotivated when he reading such things)
Maybe this discussion (August 11-23) is precise during his vacation?
Regards,
Cor
