I always wrote I have the maximum personal respect for the developer. My
only, and hardly deniable, concern was that an issue with no description
makes it hard for others to help with (or be informed about) ongoing
development.
Maybe you should think about your own work on this topic. Nobody even
knows what you are doing, it is completely hidden for us. Please don't
complain about developers who at least try to make their work public.
Instead of complaining raise your concerns on the correct list
([email protected]).
Guess what... This is exactly what we had done! Have a look here:
http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=21839
fine
and, for more current information, here (Italian)
http://wiki.plio.it/mediawiki/index.php?title=Firma_Digitale
no help because i can't understand it (it would be nice but i can't
speak Italian)
or here (English too, public code repository):
http://ooo-xadessig-it.forge.osor.eu/en/index.html
no help, it's the wrong place i or we can't follow all public places.
Joachim himself took part in the discussion on [email protected] and
his insightful comments were taken in high consideration by our
developers. This is why they were quite interested in knowing more about
the issue, and surprised that they couldn't know more.
good to know
So why you haven't simply asked there and pointed your concerns on the
issue. Sometimes it mght be helpful to discuss on a mailing list instead
of an issue.
Juergen
(who sometimes feel very demotivated when he reading such things)
Why very demotivated? We would be glad to help, we had made our efforts
known in exactly the way you suggested, and I personally believe it is
more demotivating for our developers not to be able to know what is
being done... Anyway, I believe the outcome is fairly good: we got the
information we needed and we can cooperate better now.
good to see that you have chosen the right way from the beginning ;-)
Demotived because of such sentences
"Yes - it is annoying. If such an issue was filed by anybody else (not
Sun employe or core developer) it would have been closed as invalid
asap. This might give the impression, that some community members are
"more equal" than others. "
and the discussion around.
I am sure you know what i mean ... I at least accept and appreciate the
work of any individual contributor and community member if she/he accept
the project rules.
Again if you work in this area share your information and your knowledge
on the mailing list. Only this way guarantee that you will be satisfied
with the outcome and of course guarantee that you can have influence...
Juergen
