Hi,
how should I deal with spam. This time we again got nearly 500 issues
affected. I can search them and write lists to issue 113088 as I have
started. But should I do it?
The solution I propose: a captcha.
This avoids the automated creation of accounts by spammers.
Other propoosed solutions (no HTML attachments, no attachments when
closed...) are just following 1 specific behavior of 1 spammer.
Next time this spammer or an other one can use other types of
attachments or write in the description or target open issues,,,
Besides this, it is useful to get HTML attachments to issues (yes please
without having to unzip...) or get attachments in closed issues (for the
records or newbie users not knowing how to reopen...)
On the other end - my very personal statement - it might avoid the
"unintended" spam of users mixing up issue tracker with support or
complain board... 1 more difficulty step *in this area* would help.
Please note: as it has been asked "who bothers about spam?" -> I DO!
I am - have to - on CC of the writerneedsconfirm owner so the main
stream of submitted issues.
This spam is a REAL trouble!
A captcha please!
Thnx!
Éric
