Yes, the result will be calculated for each selection separately.
In your example the first result will be inserted into A5, the second
into D6.

Do I understand you right, that you want to have the sum of A5 and D6 in
another cell? At least at the moment that's not supported.
- What about multi-selection on the same column/line using ctrl (ex
2: A2:A4 + A8:A10) ?
In this case the sum of A2:A4 is inserted into A5, the sum of A8:A10
into A11. If A5 and A11 are not empty the next empty cells are used for
the result.
- What about selections with cells removed (ex : A1:D10 intersection C5)
There's no special handling of such cases yet.
