Discussion in "Unit of Measurement API" has shifted on more mathematical ground, which is a big win. I tried to summarize the agreement that I want to achieve in this page:
https://github.com/unitsofmeasurement/unit-api/wiki/Arithmetic-operations-on-Quantity The message I'm fighting for is that whatever JSR-385 do, the arithmetic operations on quantities (+, -, *, /) must be consistent with arithmetic laws (associativity, commutativity, etc.). I'm not arguing for any particular solution - only for the requirement to be compliant with arithmetic laws.
