Thanks for the PR Eric. I thought I would get to this bug in the AM, and you beat me to it! I gave the fix in the PR a try, and the behavior is still the same. So it needs something more. I had fixed a similar bug in https://github.com/apache/solr/pull/3347 .
Checking further to see what this one needs.
