Summary: Format of email complicates post-filtering in Outlook
Product: Spamassassin
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows XP
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P5
Component: spamassassin
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I recently started using SpamAssassin through my ISP. It seems pretty good at
catching problems, but it's actually increasing the time it takes me to clear
out some spam. Here's why. I use Outlook, but I don't use their Junk E-mail
feature as it interferes with rules that file e-mail. It's a bug -- mail that
is marked as junk mail can't be acted upon by rules, whether that's to delete
known spam or un-file known non-junk mail.
So, I thought I could have Spam Assassin mark mail and then have a rule that
files it. It works great, but when I go to review the uncertain spam in my
Junk E-mail folder, they all look like this in the 3-line preview:
Spam detection software, running on the system "<SERVER NAME HERE>",

or label similar future email. If you have ...
Lots are discernable by the sender and/or subject, but a lot isn't. For these
messages, I now have to pause and open them up to make sure that I'm not
deleting something I want. The solution to this is easy: Change the format to
put the content preview earlier, like this:
